The No BS Guide To Discipline...

What The Guru's DON'T Tell You About Discipline

How often have you been awake late at night and gotten that sudden burst of motivation to suddenly be the most productive, goal-oriented version of yourself, as if you’re about to take over the world?

Maybe you suddenly do a tonne of press-ups.

Maybe you go on a 3 am run.

Or, maybe you write down a tonne of tasks that you’re going to do as soon as you wake up so that you can go on to take over the world?

Now, let me ask you this:

How many times have you gotten that motivation to do those things late at night, but as soon as you wake up, the next day is exactly the same as any other day prior?

If you’re like most, the answer to that is more than likely ‘every time’.

It’s so easy to tell ourselves that we’re going to do things, but as soon as they come up and we have to then go on to face the discomfort of actually doing them, we’re no more productive than a cat that lies on a windowsill all day.

You NEED to make it frictionless for you to do things; otherwise, nothing is ever going to change.

When you write a task list out, I imagine you’re in the mental space of ‘I’m going to make this the most productive day ever’, and write down every task under the sun with the idea that you’re going to get everything done because you’re about to be the most productive person on earth when you wake up.

Well, believe it or not, this doesn’t work, and worse than that, every time you do it, you’re lying to yourself.

STOP OVERWHELMING YOURSELF.

You look at that list of tasks, and if you even go on to finish one of them, you don’t feel much, if any satisfaction, because there are so many left to do, and each has so much weight to it.

Keep it simple.

Put two or three tasks on there every day.

And when you get those done, not only will you feel incredibly good about yourself, but you can also go on to add more to that list if you have the time to do so.

This is what none of the gurus tell you about discipline.

Discipline is the ability to never lie to yourself and to always do everything you ever tell yourself you’re going to do.

I know this is incredibly hard to do, but I’m about to make it as easy as possible for you.

Every time you set yourself a to-do list with 2-3 tasks on it, you HAVE to execute on it.

No ifs, no buts.

You need to build that confidence in your voice that you do everything you ever tell yourself you’re going to do

YOU NEED TO BUILD IT INTO YOUR IDENTITY.

You need to become a person who NEVER lies to themselves.

The more you stick to your word, and execute on every task you say you’re going to do, the easier it’s going to become, and the more you’ll trust yourself.

The confidence you’ll gain in yourself will change your life.

‘I’m going to go to the gym tomorrow'—done.

‘I’m going to finish this proposal tomorrow'—done.

‘I’m going to record that YouTube video tomorrow’—done.

After a while, it’ll become a sin for you to lie to yourself, as you won’t be someone who does that.

Even the smallest things you don’t do will accumulate and allow you to bi*ch out of doing small tasks.

If you lie to yourself once, you’ll allow yourself to do it again, and again, and again.

Don’t overwhelm yourself with too much, and execute on everything you put on your plate.

Keep it simple.
